Other than that subjective difference, white v. black for electronics has pretty much always been a bit of a tug-o-war or see-saw. With PC cases, black has been dominant for some time, and more recently more white cases have been produced and get featured on instagram and merchant pages etc, so they are being "pushed" a little now.

The white tends to reflect the light back through the upper translucent color layers making them pop with more intensity. Also white seems to be the new black for PC cases purely from a marketing standpoint. some people really love making their pcs glow like a flashbang in their room.
Is black better than white?
However most white builds I see ends up looking more like a glowing box or a lamp because of this. Black on the other hand, since it absorbs some of the light, actually helps accentuate the rgb/light source especially for lighter colors. (Black also has the edge for matching better with wood furniture setups imo but that's another story).
